   Payment, Insurance & Patient Forms
North Star Manual Therapy is a fee for service clinic, which means we require payment at the time of your treatment. Credit cards, checks and cash are all acceptable forms of payment. While we are not contracted with insurance companies and we do not file insurance claims out of our office, we will provide you a billing receipt - with all applicable insurance codes - so that you can file a claim for reimbursement directly with your insurance company. North Star Manual Therapy would be considered an "out of network" insurance provider and the amount of reimbursement would depend on the out of network physical therapy benefit description in your plan documents. If you need any help with this process, our administrative staff will be happy to assist you.

Some may question whether there is possibly more out-of-pocket expense for our treatments, than at other Physical Therapy clinics. However, one must look at the big picture when evaluating their total costs. In most cases, the amount of visits needed at North Star is far less than at other clinics. When you add up the co-pays of other clinics, factor in the time-costs of multiple visits, and consider the benefit of resolving your pain much faster than average, North Star Manual Therapy is an incredible value. Furthermore, we often have patients who come to us thinking that they will need surgery to resolve their pain. In a large amount of these cases, we have enabled the patient to avoid surgery and the incredible expenses that go along with it. Though we don’t directly bill insurance, we provide the necessary paperwork to submit claims, and most of our patients do receive some reimbursement from their insurance company.

Here are some other payment tips/options that can help save you money:

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA’s) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s)
Do you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) with your employer? These accounts allow you to use PRE-TAX dollars for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. According to IRS Pub 502, therapy costs are qualified medical expenses and therefore, you can use your FSA dollars to pay for your NSMT treatment fees! Using dollars in your FSA gives you an immediate discount equal to the taxes (Federal Income Tax + Social Security + Medicare taxes) you would otherwise pay on that money. Look at these examples:

Example 1 Example 2
$350 Evaluation Fee $180 Treatment Fee
x 28% tax bracket x 28% tax bracket
x 7.65% Soc Sec/Medicare tax x 7.65% Soc Sec/Medicare tax
= $125 SAVINGS! = $64 SAVINGS!

Also, the increasingly popular Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s) can provide the same tax savings shown above if your employer allows you to contribute pre-tax dollars into your HSA account.

One last important note, don’t worry if you do not have a FSA or HSA in your name. These account dollars can be used by all eligible family members, which includes spouses and all dependent children. Start paying with FSA/HSA dollars today and start saving money!

CareCredit
North Star Manual Therapy has partnered with the reputable CareCredit company who is used by over 65,000 healthcare practices nationwide. With approval by CareCredit, patients can choose to pay off their treatment fees over 3 months with NO INTEREST! There is no application fee, no annual fee, and no pre-payment penalties. Plus, your CareCredit account can be used by other family members! Look for more information at our office or call for more details!

Accident Policies
Did you know there are many accident policies that can help reimburse you for NSMT’s treatment costs? For example, Central United Life Insurance Co. (marketed by Farmer’s Insurance agent Janna Briggs in Georgetown), has an Enhanced 24-Hour Accident benefit that can reimburse up to $2,000 per injury within a 28 day period after the accident. At a mere $25 premium per month ($57 for insured + children), it could be a worthwhile investment. And more good news - most injuries are covered, including your kid’s sports injuries! See the Central United brochure for more information.

Call Janna for details regarding this policy at 512-930-5053 or our office for more information.

North Star Manual Therapy is not a marketer or distributor of any insurance products. Contact insurance agent or insurance company for full description of policy options and exclusions.
